Species: Culiseta minnesotae

Importance:

This species is not known to be an important pest in Montana.

Biology:

Larvae are found in semi-permanent to permanent cattail marshes and around edges of dense, emergent vegetation. It doesn’t appear to be readily attracted to human. Cs. minnesotae, overwinters as an adult.

Identifying Characteristics:

Rounded abdomen, base of wing vein Sc with row of setae ventrally, hindtarsomeres with narrow pale bands, abdomen with pale bands on basal and apical edges of tergites. Similar to Cs. morsitans.
